Years ago animal control came to my neighbor's house took two of their dogs out of a pen in the backyard they left a card at the door and when the homeowners came they said $300 a dog to get your dogs back. They didn't speak English very well at that time I told them to fight it they wouldn't they didn't want no trouble they didn't have the $300 so they couldn't get their dogs back I told them to call and ask why? When they call the number on the card to ask why they were told the dog bit the mailman. My family are good friends with the mailman so I asked the mailman if he was okay. He informed me he was not bitten nor was a substitute mailman bitten he also informed me if he was bitten by a dog animal control would not get $300 of dog to return the dog he would be injured and there would be a lawsuit and an amount would be decided by a judge. I have had to deal with animal control myself now I love my neighbors they're amazing but I blame them for not fighting the Injustice because now they think they're some type of gang in my neighborhood they are currently trying to stop me from following my doctor's orders for a service animal and one particular publicly requested my medical records which is against HIPAA laws however he's informed me that animal control is over state and federal laws. They take advantage of my neighborhood because there are a lot of immigrants here and it's in an impoverished area in Detroit so they bully us and do whatever they want. He was at my house for 5 days straight I had to call animal control and tell them if they did not get him off of my property I would charge him rent and I would press stocking charges against him. I'm not sure what to do I have a long history of caring for animals there are some national organizations for animal welfare that I have been working with for most of my life since I was a kid. I have sheltered many animals cats and dogs for different non-profit organizations. They have decided to just throw everything at me and see what sticks. They are able to operate outside of the law because somehow I haven't even had a court date yet but I have a warrant for failure to vaccinate my dogs when my dogs are vaccinated. This warrant has caused me to lose my job. There are staff members who are aware of the corruption that goes on at animal control they are all about control they have no care or concern for the people or the animals in the city of Detroit you can Google them and see how many times nonprofit organizations have gone against them how many times their own staff members have left because of the cruelty they do to animals yet they come to my house when I have dogs that are 18 and 20 years old been to vets faithfully and my dogs have insurance even if I don't have insurance my dogs do. My dogs have had insurance for years once they first came out with it. It's sad that they can come and say your dogs don't have shots when your vet says your dogs do have shots. It said that they can then say whatever they want about you even though it's not true and there's nothing you can do about it how they put a warrant for failure to vaccinate on me before I even went to court because I still haven't gone to court yet it's very interesting. How they can just look at my dogs and tell if they have a vaccination or not very interesting. How they can demand my medical records when I should be protected by HIPAA laws very interesting. How the mayor and the political parties can let them run like this very interesting. I believe in God and we will get trials and tests. I just think it's disgusting how they treat animals I think it's disgusting that they blame the people of Detroit who are mostly good people trying their best to raise their families and feed their children. I took in my two nieces their mother died due to covid and one is down syndrome and one is autistic I have one full time and I have one part time. They were very traumatized by this one particular animal control. I have lived in other cities and I have worked with animal control.

The female that answers the phone needs to be trained in communication and customer service. Just because it’s “the city” does not mean ignorance is acceptable or going to be tolerated. Please hire someone who is compassionate and actually cares about abandoned animals. Do BETTER city of DETROIT. NOT Aaliyah ! She is really good.

Renena is the absolute best!!!!!! Everyone @ DACC is so nice and professional. I captured a stray took it to DACC to see if it was microchiped then ended up adopting the sweet girl. Renena and staff made it so easy and made sure everything was taken care of. I have no idea why the negative reviews. They are good to the animals. Shelter life is hard but they make it fun the best way they can!!!!!!!!! Some awesome people work here for our wonderful City!!!!!!!!!

They ignore real problems, but will follow up on frivolous calls. If i get mauled by the neighbors dog that's vicious and gets loose everyday including right now, i will have a nice lawsuit against the city for failing to enforce the law. Both the dpd and dacc ignores the problem, so this is just me making another record of the isnt that started last year.

The Detroit Animal Care and Control crew that came out to The Detroit City Airport to pick up a friendly lost Pitbull dog were very professional, compassionate and kind individuals with the friendly Pitbull dog that they rescued. I called them to let them know that there was a precious fur baby coming in and out of the airport whenever the door opened and they got here expeditiously to pick up that precious fur baby. I am so glad that they got here quickly because I would have hated for that precious fur baby to get hit by a car. Thumbs up to The Detroit Animal Care and Control Rescue Crew.

Was going to take a dog that I rescued from the Rouge Park Archery Range in the hopes that maybe it's owner might try to look for him. They said that the dog will get all of it's shots, then I asked if it's a kill shelter, they said yes, how long will the dog have?. They said 4 days, will you call me before that, they said that they never call anyone. The dog's ribs could be seen, hardly any stomach, found out that it's been out there at the Range for over a month. I don't know if it ran off, abandoned, but I couldn't leave it there alone and starving.

I heard on the news that a four year old was killed by a pitbull came under the fence into the child yard this is got to stop anybody that wants to own a pitbull mix pitbull there should be rules if you’re going to continue letting this breed populate Anywhere they need a 10 foot run on a cement slab with a chain fence top and a lock on the gate in order to own a pitbull that’s the only way it’ll be safe it’s a pitbull‘s instinct to do what it did just like a collie which I had many because I bred them and showed them they have a herding instinct they would herd my children around the yard, The family that lost their child to a pitbull I want to say that I hope new rules for pit bulls will change in the Detroit area or any surrounding area and all of Michigan and all of the United States I’m so sorry this happened to you and your child… People should start calling into animal control when they see Pitbulls running around their own yard too! there should be new rules and be ticketed if they are running loose in the yard Or anywhere! they should be under control at all times, I hope these people get charged with second-degree murder and the dogs put down and anyone that has Pitbulls or mixed pitbull‘s running loose in their yard should get a big find $1000.00 each time and dogs taken from them somethings gotta be done!!!!!!!
